Oselia Baturyn
BATURYN CAMPaign update

This year, 2024, the Montreal chapter of Plast will celebrate the 65th anniversary of Oselia Baturyn. What started as a dream in the hearts and minds of three Plastuny, became a place where many generations have assembled, celebrated our rich culture, experienced adventures, and created memories and friendships that would last a lifetime.
Unfortunately, infrastructure isn’t designed to last a lifetime. Most of the buildings at Baturyn were built in the 1960 and 1970s and a combination of age and harsh winters has taken its toll. Our infrastructure has for the most part surpassed the end of its useful life and does not comply with today’s environmental and safety standards.
Our membership has tripled in recent years, largely due to the influx of families diplaced by the war in Ukraine, whom we have embraced. This rapid growth is welcome news, but increased numbers put even more presssure on the existing infrastructure. Major renovations and upgrades are required and the costs are far beyond our stanycia’s means.
So, five months ago, we launched our BATURYN CAMPaign with high hopes and, understandably, some trepidation. We were a small group of dedicated Plastuny who had little experience with fundraising on a major level. But, we are Plastuny, and that means we are up to the challenge!
Today, we are happy to report that we have reached 60% of our goal of $200K and donations from our community continue to come in on a regular basis. We want to express our profound gratitude to everyone who has joined us on this journey by responding to our appeal.
To recognize those who have supported us, we have created our donor levels based on the Plast motto “СКОБ” (SKOB – Sylno, Krasno, Oberezhno, Bystro).
Sylni: Donations of $10K +
Krasni: Donations of $5K to $9,999
Oberezhni: Donations of $1K to $4,999
Bystri: Donations up to $999

If you haven’t yet made a gift to the BATURYN CAMPaign, please consider doing so today. This campaign is about so much more than bricks and mortar. The development of today’s youth into conscientious, caring, responsible citizens of the world can take many forms and be done in many settings, including the great outdoors. Oselia Baturyn has been a vital venue for generations of children and adolescents who have grown to be strong contributors to not only Canadian society but also in the fight to ensure an autonomous Ukraine.
This once in a generation fundraising effort will ensure a pleasant and successful camp for future generations of Plastuny. Please help us achieve this goal by supporting the BATURYN CAMPaign.
